SHINING's 'Blackjazz' Plaque Being Sold On eBay
March 19, 2011The mysterious "Blackjazz" plaque made by the Norwegian outfit SHINING for the band's nomination at the 39th annual Spellemann awards (the Norwegian equivalent to the Grammy Awards) two weeks ago has now been put on sale via eBay. It is a one-of-a-kind piece of art, made by print on vinyl featuring a specially designed QR code encoded with the full list of "Blackjazz" accomplices and collaborators, along with a symbol of which the band has not yet revealed the meaning. The QR code also says that the winner of the very special plaque is also the very first owner of the upcoming "Live Blackjazz" DVD, which is currently in the works.
This unique and rare item is being sold for the same as the band’s exact expenses in manufacturing it.
Commented SHINING's Jørgen Munkeby: "Since all the members in the band are already fighting about hanging this piece of art on their own wall, we decided that we would not sell it for less than the actual expenses. We hope that the person to buy this item will take very good care of it, and be proud of the plaque. We ourselves love this unique thing, and my own wall suddenly started looking embarrassingly naked after this plaque came back from the print house."
You can read more about this very special piece of art on SHINING's Facebook page.
Over the course of its impressive 10-plus-year career, SHINING has created its own unique and bizarre hybrid of jazz and extreme metal, which is easily distinguishable from the musical world of their Swedish labelmates sharing the same band name.
